How It Works

Booking an online saddle consultation with us is simple and straightforward. First, select your preferred consultation option and complete the booking and payment process online. After booking, we’ll send you a detailed checklist and instructions on how to take and submit the photos and videos we need to assess your saddle and horse.

Once we receive your submission, a qualified saddle fitter will review all the materials carefully and prepare personalised feedback tailored to your situation. Depending on your chosen consultation type, this feedback will be delivered either via a written report emailed to you or through a live video call, where you can ask questions and get real-time advice.

Our goal is to make the process as convenient and informative as possible, helping you make confident decisions about saddle fit when you do not have access to an immediate in-person visit.

Online Saddle Consultation FAQ's

Can an online consultation replace an in-person saddle fitting?

No. Online consultations provide valuable guidance based on photos and videos, but they are not a substitute for hands-on, in-person assessments. If a physical visit is necessary, we’ll recommend it.

How long does it take to receive feedback?

For the Silver Consultation, expect your written report within 3–5 working days after submitting your materials. Gold Consultation clients will receive their live call appointment time at booking, with the written report sent afterward.

Can I book an online consultation if I’m not trialling a saddle from Saddles Online?

Yes! Our Silver and Gold online fitting service is available to anyone needing expert advice, whether or not you’ve purchased or are trialling a saddle through us.

What if I don’t have good-quality photos or videos?

We provide a step-by-step guide with examples to help you take suitable images and footage. If your initial submissions aren’t clear enough, we’ll work with you to retake what’s needed.

What kind of advice will I receive?

Expect honest, professional feedback on saddle fit, balance, clearance, pressure points, and rider position. We can also discuss pads and potential next steps, but we won’t make fitting adjustments remotely.

What if I have further questions?

If you have further questions after receiving your written report, you can upgrade your Silver package to the Gold package. If you still require further assistance this we be charged at a pre-agreed hourly rate.

How many saddles can you assess in one consultation?

Each online consultation includes the assessment of one saddle. Should you wish to have additional saddles evaluated during the same consultation, an additional fee of £10 per saddle will apply.

What You’ll Need to Provide for Your Online Saddle Consultation

To give you the most accurate and helpful advice possible, we’ll need some detailed information about your horse, saddle, and riding setup. Don’t worry — we’ll provide clear instructions and support throughout.

Photos of Your Horse Without a Saddle

To start, we’ll need clear photos of your horse standing square on level ground, taken from the side to show its overall shape and posture. It’s also important to include close-up images of the wither, back, and shoulders to assess muscle development and condition. Additionally, shots taken from both the front and behind will help us check your horse’s symmetry and any asymmetries that might affect saddle fit.

Photos of the Saddle on Your Horse

Next, please provide photos of the saddle placed naturally on your horse’s back without a rider. We’ll need views from both sides and from behind, along with close-up shots of the saddle panels resting on the horse’s back. Photos from the front showing clearance over the wither, as well as images highlighting the stirrup bars and girth placement, are also very helpful.

Videos of Your Horse in Motion with the Saddle

Videos of your horse in motion while wearing the saddle are extremely valuable. Ideally, you can send clips of walk, trot, and canter from both sides, focusing on how the saddle moves relative to your horse’s back. If you are trialling the saddle yourself, footage of your riding position and balance during movement will allow us to offer more detailed guidance

Information About Your Horse

Please also provide key information about your horse, including age, breed, height, and the type and level of work they perform, such as competition, hacking, or schooling. It’s important to mention any known physical issues, past injuries, or recent changes in shape, as well as any behavioral signs of discomfort like girthiness or resistance, which might relate to saddle fit.

Details About Your Saddle

In terms of the saddle, we’ll need details about the brand, model, and approximate age, along with information about the tree width and flap size if you know them. Let us know whether the saddle is new or second-hand, if it has been flocked or adjusted recently, and what types of pads or half pads you typically use with it.

Finally, sharing your riding goals or specific concerns helps us tailor our advice to your needs. Tell us if you are trialling a saddle from Saddles Online or seeking feedback on your current saddle, what issues you want addressed, and the main type of riding you do.
